From button to wow

This is how Am a ryllis blooms to its fullest in the vase.

The transformation of Am a ryllis is magical: from an unassuming bud to an impressive, full flower. As a florist, how do you get the most out of this metamorphosis? In this article, we share practical care tips and clever tricks to surprise your customers with an Am a ryllis that shines for days.

The magic of the Amaryllis

The Amaryllis is one of the few flowers that undergoes such an impressive transformation: from a tight bud to a full, elegant flower. With the right care, you complete this metamorphosis and keep the flower beautiful for longer.

Cutting at the right moment

Cut the stem when the bud is just beginning to turn colour but is still closed. This allows the flower to open gently and remains firm longer. Always use a sharp knife and cut the stem at an angle for optimal water absorption.

Prevent stem breakage

The hollow stems can snap due to the weight of the flower. Therefore, wrap the bottom of the stem in floral tape or shrink wrap and support it with a support stick if necessary.

Water, light and temperature

Place the Amaryllis in clean, lukewarm water and change it every two days. Keep the environment cool and avoid direct sunlight and drafts. Do not place the stem too deep in the water; 10 cm is enough to limit bacterial growth.
