Care
step by step

When well cared for, the Amaryllis shows its strongest side: bold, elegant and long-lasting.

With the right treatment, you ensure satisfied customers,
minimal downtime and maximum presentation power.

Stem preparation and support

Proper stem preparation and support are key to long-lasting blooms and a striking presentation.

Tips:

  • cut the stem at an angle just before processing.
  • use a sharp knife, not scissors.
  • cut preferably when the flower is just coloured but not yet open.
  • use support sticks or elastic bands to keep stems straight in taller arrangements.

Good support prevents the flower from breaking.
during binding and in the vase.

Vase & water

Amaryllis is sensitive to the right conditions in the vase.

Small details make a big difference.
Tips:

  • Use clean, lukewarm water (20°C).
  • if necessary, add cut flower food without sugar.
  • Change the water every 2 days, especially at warmer temperatures.
  • Make sure the stem is standing in the water about 10 cm, so not too deep.
  • sets Amaryllis cool (15–20°C), out of direct sunlight and drafts. This way it stays firm longer.

Avoid contact with leaves or flower petals in the water to prevent bacterial growth.

Stem breakage & curling stems

The hollow stem can snap or curl.

With the right technique, you prevent damage, or use the curl creatively.

  • wrap the stem at the bottom in floral tape or shrink wrap for strength.
  • Let the flowers rest in water before processing; that strengthens the cells.
  • support with a stick or elastic band
  • If necessary, use a support vase when binding or arranging.
  • shorter stem to limit bending

Or: intentionally leave the stem longer and make a small cut so that it can curl gracefully. Give the flowers room in a generous glass vase for a natural, elegant effect.

The proper care
