Care
step by step

When well cared for, the Amaryllis shows its strongest side: bold, elegant and long-lasting.

With the right treatment, you'll ensure happy customers,
minimal waste and maximum visual impact.

Stem preparation and support

Proper stem preparation and support are key to long-lasting blooms and a striking presentation.

Tips:

  • cut the stem at an angle just before processing.
  • use a sharp knife, not scissors.
  • cut preferably when the flower is just coloured but not yet open.
  • use support sticks or elastic bands to keep stems straight in taller arrangements.

Good support prevents the flower from bending
while tying and in the vase.

Vase & water

Amaryllis is sensitive to the right conditions in the vase.

Small details make a big difference.
Tips:

  • use clean, lukewarm water (20°C).
  • if necessary, add cut flower food without sugar.
  • change the water every 2 days, especially when it's warmer.
  • make sure the stem is about 10 cm in the water, so not too deep.
  • keep Amaryllis cool (15–20°C), away from direct sunlight and drafts. This way, it stays firm longer.

Keep leaves or petals out of the water to stop bacteria from growing.

Broken & Curly Stems

The hollow stem can snap or start to curl.

With the right technique, you can prevent damage, or even use the curl creatively!

  • wrap the stem at the bottom in floral tape or shrink wrap for strength.
  • Let the flowers rest in water before you arrange them; this helps strengthen their cells.
  • Support them with a stick or an elastic band.
  • You can also use a support vase when you're tying them or arranging them.
  • Keep the stem shorter to stop it from bending too much.

Or, you can purposefully leave the stem longer and make a small cut so it can curl beautifully. Give your flowers plenty of room in a nice glass vase for a natural, elegant look.
